 Dry Media, Drawing Materials:

 

3 to 6 CONTE DRAWING PENCIL- Paris #610 (one white, one black, rest sanguine)

KNEADED ERASER

(Optional: CHARCOAL PENCIL, 2B or vine charcoal.)

18" X 24" NEWSPRINT- SMOOTH

18" X 24" MASONITE DRAWING BOARD

4 CLIPS

(optional:18” X 24” drawing pad – smooth)

 1 to 5 sheet of paper: STRATHMORE 500 SERIES

(Velvet Gray #60 -128, laid finish) or any smooth light gray paper

UTILITY KNIFE OR BLADES (SINGLE EDGE- to sharpen pencils)

SAND PAPER #200 (FOR SHARPENING PENCILS)

(OPTIONAL: PENCIL HOLDER)

TWO SQUARE MATCHBOXES, 2” x 1.5”

 (OPTIONAL:  0.5 mm mechanical pencil

                        0.5 mm mechanical pencil HB red lead (12 pack)

                        CLASSIC/ECRU sketch Book, Cream colored paper (not white)

 Wet media, Drawing Materials:

 

 INK: Any water soluble (non water proof) Sepia Ink.

        (optional: The old masters favorite: Bister Ink made from soot, or: Iron oxide 

               red Ink, or: sepia Ink made from the Ink bladder of  the Adriatic cuttlefish)

        If you unable to get this from your local art store you can order the old Masters Inks from:

Brushes:  Small Chinese brush, or: blender brush (example: Isabey brush # 6234)

               Scriptliner brush.

               (The best wash brushes are round brushes made from the tail of the

              Kolinsky red sable.) 

 

Paper:  9" x 12" Watercolor paper pad.

            (optional: Arches, watercolor block, hot press 100% cotton - 140lb.)

 

Dish:  small, to mix and test the Ink tone.

 

Cloth: soft white, for blotting the brush.

 

Cups: two small one for water.
